October 10, 2024 #drawing #coaching #spontaneity ⚑ Bali, Southeast Asia — 👋 This page will give you a snapshot of my current interests and pursuits, and the location tag at the top should accurately state where I am traveling at the moment. — I’ve discovered that context switching by interspersing different subjects and mediums of work provides me with fresh perspectives on each project. Iterating between projects enables me to return with renewed creativity and effective problem-solving skills. Taking time away from a task often leads to idea betterment. I may schedule work on each project in spaced intervals, allowing myself moments for reflection at distance, my subconscious mind continues to work on problems in the background. – Focusing on small, continuous improvements over time helps me maintain creative energy and achieve incremental progress without any project stagnating. Iterating on each project in turns helps me sustain momentum and encourages the cross-fertilization of ideas, resulting in more holistic outcomes. 🐝 cross-pollinating, I work on multiple projects simultaneously, letting insights from one influence and enhance the others. — I guess it’s principles season for me now, as I radically revisit my own principles page and launch the principles page project. I call it a project because I need to call it something — and “movement” feels like too big a claim. Yet, it’s a serious effort for me to step out of my portable hermit mode and spark new conversations. — I’m stepping away from the Apple ecosystem — not just because the latest macOS and iOS updates landed heavy on my older devices, and I want to keep using those devices without everything becoming painfully slow, but also because my anticipation of Apple Intelligence isn’t anticipation at all. By the end of this year, I plan to switch to Linux for most of what I do. a “now page” on a personal website tells you what the author is currently focused on in their life. It’s like an “about” page but for the present moment, offering a big picture view of their current activities, interests, and priorities. Unlike social media updates, it provides a concise overview and helps with prioritization linked mentions for "NOW": 1. **what to si** “C” is not an “a”, and it is not a “b” — this is to suggest that C is consequently flowing and not merely a choice. They don’t have to watch the 2. **the duoton newsletter** Today I’m starting the "duoton" newsletter, and the "bender" piece will serve as its inaugural issue. That seems like an appropriate moment to 3. **principles** An ongoing exercise of radical introspection expressed through first-person singular writing, the slash-principles page serves as a fluid document that reflects my evolving truths, beliefs, and principles. Discomfort is not an enemy, it’s a teacher! Each tenet is shaped and refined by the hard choices I make, aligning with my personal raison d'ĂȘtre and ikigai. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s weird and little-known, so I made this website as a resource for the people who practice it.   🍩 My other site is much cooler.

WertschĂ€tzung an oberster Stelle. FĂŒr weitere Details schaut euch meinen Lebenslauf an. CV Herunterladen 1. Mai 2005 - Apr 2014 Swisscom Konzeption, Architektur, Entwicklung und Support einer Plattform zum Verarbeiten und Anzeigen von elektronischen Programmdaten (EPG). 2. I created Hack Education in June 2010 shortly after I became a technology journalist. I was frustrated by the lack of coverage of education technology -- by both technology and education publications. I did my day job (that is, the freelance writing I got paid for) but devoted as much attention as possible to Hack Education, trying to create the sort of publication that I'd want to read: one that was smart and snarky, one that was free of advertising and investor influence, one that was tracking new technologies but not just because of some hyperbolic "revolution." To “hack” can mean a lot of things: To break in and break down. To cut to the core.  To chop roughly. To be playful and clever. To be mediocre. To solve a problem, but to do so rather inelegantly. To pull systems apart.  To "MacGyver" things back together. To re-code. To rebuild. To “Hack Education,” in turn, can have multiple interpretations, I recognize: a technological solution, a technology intrusion, a technological possibility, a technological disaster. Ed-tech is all those things. To "hack education" isn't something that just technologists should do or care about. Nor is this just a concern for teachers, administrators, parents, or students. We all should consider the implications of technology on how we teach and learn, lest the future of ed-tech be just like the history of ed-tech: learners as pigeons. In June 2022, I posted what I thought would be my last update to this site. I couldn't be, I wouldn't be ed-tech's Cassandra any longer. Surprise, surprise. In the Fall of 2024, I decided to retake the mantle. I'm currently working on a book on artificial intelligence and education. Because clearly I hadn't left the future of teaching and learning in good hands. #####   ·  All Hack Education Articles  ·  **The Last Few Articles:** I know you're not so happy to hear this, particularly if you were enjoying the last few years of actively dismantling public education: but bitches, I'm back. I'm not sure I'll be updating this website terribly regularly. But I am working on a new book on artificial intelligence and education -- because clearly folks are still keep to automate teaching and learning. And I thought you'd want to steel yourself. 5 October 2024 Well, it's been quite a ride. But when I received word a couple of weeks ago that my very favorite ed-tech startup Desmos was being acquired, it seemed like the perfect time to close the curtains on this show. I'm officially done with Hack Education, done with ed-tech. This site won't go away. You can work your way through the extensive archives. I wrote a lot of good stuff, and almost all of it is still relevant. 15 June 2022 "Things are fucked up and bullshit." That's what the sign said at Occupy Wall Street. Let's not forget that. And it's not just that things are bad now or things were bad then. We have to remember that folks resisted. Folks protested. Change happens. We needn't give up the future to the corporate elites. We needn't hand over education to their techno-fantasies. We need to remember. And from memory, we can draw hope. This was sort of the gist of my keynote at Digifest 2022. 8 March 2022 Listen up. The school bell is not a technology adopted to train students to become factory workers, ok? Stop telling these ridiculous tales about the history of education. Or alternately, keep it up, and I'll just keep writing these essays about the history of school technologies and screaming into the void. 30 January 2022 #####   ·  Books  ·  Latest Book: “There must be an industrial revolution in education,” psychologist Sidney Pressey wrote in 1933, “in which educational science and the ingenuity of educational technology combine to modernize the grossly inefficient and clumsy procedures of conventional education.” We still hear claims like this today: ed-tech is poised to bring science and efficiency to schools. Teaching machines will individualize instruction, allowing students to move at their own pace through their lessons and freeing teachers from drudgery so she may focus, as Pressey argued, on more important work “developing in her pupils fine enthusiasms, clear thinking, and high ideals.” “_Teaching Machines_, is a vital cultural history of our desire for a technical solution to the fundamentally social problem of how to make education work for all families. Watters has written the rare book that is necessary, important, and readable.” -- Tressie McMillan Cottom, Associate Professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; author of _Thick: And Other Essays_ “This is a landmark book.” -- John Warner, Inside Higher Ed #####   ·  The Best of Hack Education: Selected Essays  ·  Featured Essay: Here. I have chronicled for you a decade of ed-tech failures and fuck-ups and flawed ideas. Oh yes, I’m sure you can come up with some rousing successes and some triumphant moments that made you thrilled about the 2010s and that give you hope for “the future of education.” Good for you. But that’s not my job. (And honestly, it’s probably not your job either.) . 31 December 2019 #####   ·  The Best of Hack Education: Selected Talks  ·  Featured Talk: This talk was delivered at OEB 2019 in Berlin. I wanted to call out the misinformation and disinformation repeated by those who get on stage at ed-tech events (as well as those who uncritically accept the fairy tales as truth). If we prance delightedly towards a dystopian ed-tech future, it is in part because of the storytellers in ed-tech who peddle this bullshit. 28 November 2019 #####   ·  Why Pigeons?: What is up with all the pigeons? The bird appears across all the various Hack Education projects as it exemplifies how education technology has viewed learning and learners. In part, it's a reference to the work of Edward Thorndike and B. F. Skinner and their development of multiple choice tests, teaching machines, and behavioral (educational) psychology.... _Image credits: Bryan Mathers_

How to write Javascript like Elixir 17 min read ----------------------------------------------- March 22, 2021 web Javascript has a concurrent programming model that centers around promises, async functions and the await primitive. However, I want to use the conceptually simpler and more robust actor model that is widely used in the Elixir/Erlang world. Can I do it? Let's find out. A list of things I like ----------------------- This is not exhaustive, but should get you a pretty good overview of who I am :) Noir thrillers (books & movies), running, reading a good book, cozy evenings with loved ones, trying out new cooking recipes, rainy days in big cities, getting lost in random rabbit holes, making plans about the future daydreaming, collecting inspiration (for one of my thousand project ideas), working in trains, deep house (or whatever genre Elderbrook and BUNT. fit into), the feeling after coming home from the gym, thinking and philosophising about stuff I find interesting right at that moment (and now writing about it too), baby goats & dogs, biographies of inspiring people, true-crime podcasts, Liverpool FC, Bern, strolling through book stores, NOCCO, El Tony Mate, the smell of a summer thunderstorm, street photography, bringing things to live with code, minimalism (especially as a design style), sushi, poké bowls, simple living, board game nights with friends,
(Plus 1000 other things I forgot to write down and will add later.) Where to find me ---------------- I try to reduce my social media consumption as much as possible. That’s why my current main hub is this website. If you want to reach out, have a chat or create something together, you can also find me on Mastodon, or simply write me an email (the old school way). And don’t forget to subscribe to my RSS feed to keep up to date with the things I put out into this world! That means a lot of protein and long walks to ensure that I’m in a calorie deficit while gaining muscle and losing fat. These days, I work out four days a week at the gym following Trainer Winny’s beginner plan . It’s mainly a mix of compound exercises like bench press, overhead press, barbell row, squat, and deadlift. I’m nursing an ankle sprain, so squats and running are out of the equation, at least for a couple of weeks. Summer is officially over, and the weather is getting nicer day by day. I’m itching to run, but I guess I’ll have to wait and focus on rehab. #### If you found my now page interesting, checkout “Then” , an archive of all my “Now” pages. ###### This is a “now page” inspired by Derek Sivers, and you should make one too.

Hi, I’m Camilla. ---------------- #### I’m here to help you feel at home and at ease in your body _– so you are able to live the life you want to live._ ### How can I help you feel more **ALIVE** in your body? I have an injury, discomfort, or blockages in my body and want to become pain-free and feel at ease: #### I want osteopathic treatment A bit more about me ------------------- I am an authorized **physiotherapist**, **osteopathy** student, and a **movement** teacher. I help big-hearted humans find **more aliveness and freedom in their bodies** through **osteopathic treatment, breathwork** and **movement**. #### **I truly believe that when we feel at ease and free in our bodies, we will show up in the world feeling more empowered and joyful!** I’m based in **Copenhagen, Denmark**, where you can find me giving treatments to clients in two osteopathy clinics. My osteopathic treatments help to remove/limit pain and discomfort, aid healing, and help people feel more at home in their body. I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to all things science, anatomy, mind & movement! Diving into my own body & mind through osteopathy, movement , meditation, and self-reflection has helped me feel so much more empowered and alive in my own skin. **I want to help others get rid of pain and discomfort and find that feeling of freedom in their own body too!** When I’m not in the osteopathy clinic, doing acrobatics, jumping in the canals of Copenhagen for a swim, or geeking out on books related to all things movement, spirituality and psychology, you’ll find me spending time with the people I love, or planning out my next adventure to come.

#### What I’m currently reading, working on, and trying out. Find out below
 #### I’M CURRENTLY WORKING ON: 1\. I just finished my first month working in AAO osteopathy clinics in Copenhagen. I see clients with back pain, stress-related symptoms, digestive problems, shoulder injuries, and so on, every day. I’m so very grateful to be a part of a clinic community with people that really care and that I get to learn from my osteopathy peers who’ve been in the field for way longer than I! 2\. I’ve partnered up with brands I LOVE, to provide a discount for my readers/followers and earn a bit on commission to support myself during my studies. I’ve partnered with Mukishoes (10% off: CAMIMUKI) and Moonchild Yoga Wear (15% off: CAMILLAMIIA). 3\. I started teaching donation-based workshops a while ago (with my bestie Julia :\* ). Workshops in floorwork, handstands and acroyoga and donating all the proceeds to a good cause! I have the urge to start that back up again so keep an eye out for new events here. 4\. I finished writing a free ebook for everyone struggling with aching wrists in their yoga practice or anyone in need of strengthen their wrists to prepare for yoga poses such as plank pose, arm balances, and handstand. If you want to feel ease and stability in your wrists you can sign-up here to receive it in your inbox!đŸ€žâ€â™‚ïž #### THINGS I’VE ENJOYED RECENTLY: 1\. I read the book Breath by James Nestor and I cannot recommend it enough!!! It’s a great and informative book on how much our breathing habits affect our lives told through personal experiences. Super insightful and definitely taught me things I didn’t know and made me change the way I breathe for the better and I already feel the difference. Again: I cannot recommend this book enough! 2\. I’m enjoying my aeropress a lot these days. Making myself a really good cup of coffee and bringing it outside on the nearest square. I like to sit there in the sunshine, sip my coffee, and scribble down some thoughts on paper or look at the sky and the trees. A great way to start slow days! 3\. I’m dealing with an injury in my right shoulder at the moment BUT it’s giving me an opportunity to experience dealing with an injury, which only makes me a better physiotherapist so I can relate to my patients better. I’m in the process of finding out how much I need to scale back on my regular acroyoga and handstand practice to give my body the rest it needs while building a new habit of doing my daily physiotherapy exercises so I can recover. 4\. A banana protein pancake recipe that some dear friends recently shared with me! Soooo delicious. * * * This page was last updated on October 2, 2024; NOW page inspired by Derek Sivers. After a 21 year break from the military, I joined the Tennessee Air National Guard. I still haven’t been on the jiu-jitsu mats since COVID. Technically I’m still working for Nebo but I’m on orders for military job training until the spring. I’m in Maryland at Fort Meade attended the Defense Information School for Mass Communications. Previous Updates ---------------- ### October 2022 I’m working as a backend developer at an agency in Atlanta called Nebo. I haven’t been on the jiu-jitsu mats since pre-COVID. I crashed my bike back in the summer and injured my wrist. I was out of the saddle for about a month. After healing I did my first over-night cycling trip. 100 miles over two days along the Chief Ladiga and Silver Comet Trails. ### July 2022 I’m working as a backend developer at an agency in Atlanta called Nebo. I haven’t been on the jiu-jitsu mats since pre-COVID. Now that summer is here I’m cycling again. Or I was until I crashed a few weeks ago and injured my wrist. Now I’m just counting the days until I can get back in the saddle. ### January 2022 I’m working as a backend developer at an agency in Atlanta called Nebo. I haven’t been on the jiu-jitsu mats since pre-COVID and now that winter has come, I’m no longer cycling. I’m just staying home and getting fat. ### August 2021 I took a six-month contract to work with Leidos building the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Telehealth website. I started learning Ruby on Rails about a year ago. Last November I started building Portholes, an alternative to Instapaper. I’m still trying to decide if I want to put effort into a web agency; and if so, what products or services to offer. I started cycling in the summer of 2017, mostly to rehab my knee after surgery. After my knee was stronger, I returned to jiu-jitsu the following summer and continued riding as a way of increasing my cardiovascular fitness. Those rides were about 4 miles. In the summer of 2020, COVID kept me off the jiu-jitsu mats so I started longer rides—about 8-to-10 miles. The longer rides have continued this summer. I have long believed that book recommendations is an unsolvable problem. StoryGraph is taking a stab at it and looks promising. ### July 2017 After 8 years in Thailand and 19 years total, I’m back in Alabama and back on the farm. When I’m not mending fence rows or raking hay, I’m working for Travel Tripper as a web developer on their agency team. ### April 2017 I’m back in the States and looking for work. I’d prefer to continue working as a web developer, or some type of software developer. Although a network or systems admin position could be interesting. If you know anyone looking for a developer with an eclectic skill set, send them to my LinkedIn profile or if they’re old school, pass them my PDF resume. ### November 2016 Mostly thinking about ways to make money. I’ve been in Thailand for seven years as I write this and the whole time I’ve been looking to start a business. I’ve tried a few things, but all of them failed. Now I’m working on a website service for the Thai market. It’s very early days, but we’ve got an MVP and my Thai partner is making cold calls to see if this idea will fly.
