These developments offer opportunities to explore safety standards and frameworks for digital thread technologies that train and refine autonomous AI systems. **Smart Infrastructure and Automation** Honda’s EV models and BMW’s Panoramic iDrive reflect advancements in smart infrastructure and connected systems. These innovations resonate with efforts to integrate AI into cloud-based infrastructure and operational processes. Ensuring safety and privacy in these interconnected systems remains a critical focus. **Takeaways for 2025** CES 2025 emphasizes the importance of aligning AI, sustainable innovation, and advanced infrastructure to drive impactful outcomes. These trends present a growing demand signal and a clear foundation for achieving 2025 goals. As 2024 comes to a close, it’s a moment to reflect on a year of transformative progress and impactful initiatives within the realms of innovation and technology. This year marked significant strides in digital transformation, with a primary focus on advancing cloud-based infrastructure, AI-driven analytics, and process automation. These efforts not only enhanced operational efficiency but also laid the groundwork for scalable, future-ready systems. The Center of Innovation (COIN) solidified its role as a hub for creative problem-solving and impactful outcomes. Key initiatives emphasized research-centric technology solutions, leveraging emerging technologies to propel forward-thinking projects. This work underscored the power of innovation in driving meaningful change across industries. High-Performance Computing (HPC) took center stage, with the development of a comprehensive roadmap in partnership with TotalCAE. These advancements supported sophisticated research initiatives across UL’s five research institutes and set a new benchmark for computational excellence. The introduction of a digital twin for research labs demonstrated the convergence of technology and experimentation, fostering enhanced collaboration and data-driven decision-making. Engagement with external organizations also flourished. Acceptance into Evanta, participation in TechCrunch Disrupt, and involvement with Chicago Innovation strengthened our network and influence. Joining the ‘Ageless Innovators’ program and contributing to the Great Lakes ReNEW initiative showcased our commitment to regional sustainability and innovation. This year, the Research Computing Steering Committee was established to unify strategic goals across multiple disciplines. Moreover, milestones such as joining mHUB and being featured at the Gartner Symposium/XPO cemented our position as leaders in innovation. As we look ahead to 2025, the momentum we’ve built in 2024 serves as a testament to what’s possible when creativity, collaboration, and technology converge. At the **Gartner Symposium/XPO**, the emphasis was on strategic, high-level discussions surrounding digital transformation, AI’s expanding role, and how enterprises can accelerate innovation. One of the most striking insights was the emerging consensus on AI not just as a tool but as a core component of business strategy. Sessions on predictive analytics and ethical AI underscored the importance of guiding AI responsibly to harness its full potential. The symposium offered actionable frameworks for digital acceleration that I’m excited to adapt for our work at the Center of Innovation, especially as we further integrate AI-driven analytics and cloud solutions into our initiatives. **TechCrunch Disrupt** brought a refreshingly raw, disruptive energy to the tech conversation. The event showcased startups breaking new ground across sectors—from sustainable tech to, well, obviously, AI and digital twin technology. It was inspiring to witness the boldness with which these startups are challenging norms, and I came away with new ideas to spark further innovation in how I continue to develop strategies around emerging technologies. The enthusiasm and forward-thinking spirit of TechCrunch served as a reminder of the power of agility and creativity in driving change and helped me build a better pitch mentality and tone for the projects I am working on. Finally, joining **Evanta Chicago** was an invaluable experience that marked a new level of peer engagement and collaboration. Connecting with fellow executives will reinforce the importance of shared learning in tackling complex technological challenges. Evanta’s focus on building a robust network of leaders is vital in today’s fast-paced tech landscape, and I’m eager to explore data-driven decision-making and digital transformation strategies with the group. These events have expanded my perspective from disruptive startup energy to strategic enterprise focus. As I bring these learnings back to my role, I’m looking forward to exploring new ways to foster innovation, drive transformation, and lead with a vision that aligns both emerging technologies and executive collaboration. This journey through diverse perspectives reaffirms the incredible potential of technology to shape our future.

##### Last updated on March 3, 2025 This is a public list of ideas that I would like to work on someday. This is a copy of the ideas note I have in my Obsidian vault, where I jot down interesting projects, concepts, and thoughts that I find intriguing and might want to explore in the future. Since it is not practically possible for anyone to work on every idea they have, I thought it would be better to make this note public so that someone else might build it someday. Ideas that I’m currently working on are crossed out and have been moved to my projects page. Against each idea, I’ve added a short description to provide more context. If you are interested in any of the ideas mentioned below and want to work on them or collaborate with me, feel free to contact me. In case any of the ideas already exist, please let me know, and I will cross them out with a backlink to the project. **Vape with a Puff Limiter**A vape that lets you set the maximum number of puffs you can have in a day via an app or something! Looks like another person has thought about the same .**A Search Engine for Personal Blogs**I’m unable to search for content in personal blogs on google or any other search engine. Kagi small web is there, but it’s not personal blog specific.**A World Travel Lottery**A lottery with the grand prize as a fully-expensed, world travel package to visit n countries across all continents**Cricket Guard Line Projector**If you watch cricket, you can see batsmen often marking guard lines against the stumps by asking the umpire. Why can’t we have a laser projection of the stumps controlled by the umpire with a remote?**A cheap running tracker**There are multiple running trackers that you can attach to shoes, like Stryd , but these are quite expensive. Why is it so hard to make cheaper running trackers?**A platform to read both sides of an argument.**A moderated platform where a dedicated page is present for popular topics, and people can read about both sides of the argument.**Indian News Aggregator with relevance**India is struggling with misinformation and rigged news. The magnitude is quite high, considering the huge population, the demographics, and the rising internet penetration. A platform like News Minimalist that removes clickbait titles and filters relevant news would be useful for India.**Global Fish Database in different languages**Fishnames are tricky if you travel around the world. Within a country itself, fish names would be different. A global database of fishnames in all different languages would be great!**Bookmark for Videos & Podcasts**I wish there was a tool to record a particular timestamp on a video or a podcast so that I can watch it from the saved timestamp when I resume, rather than scrolling and finding the time.**Strava for Writers**Strava is a great tool to track your activities. As a writer, such a tool would be great to see the number of words written every day and also get a sneak peek at others’ writings.**About Me Collection**I love reading the About Me sections of various personal blogs. A curated list of the best about pages would be cool.**Evergreen Hosting** People put a lot of effort into their blogs, and most often, after the person passes away, these blogs go obsolete. How about a service that you can pay for one-time or in installments, ensuring that your blog stays live forever? _Update: I wrote about in detail here . Updated on the 9th of April 2025 Waiting, on the cusp of our second child being born. After a busy few months renovating the house and wading through illnesses brought back from preschool, there’s only a couple of things that actually _need_ to be done. It’s refreshing to wake up and not be faced by a mountain of To Do items. This will be the first year in a while where we’ve completed our renovation plans for the year before summer. I cannot express how happy I am that I’ll not be in a room stripping wallpaper in 30℃. I’m also on the edge of stability. After some last-minute renewals my latest contract bid is long or bust. I’ve learned a lot about keeping sanguine in the face of things I can’t change here – the tension between wanting to carefully plan finances for family changes and potentially being contract-free is certainly there, but the option of a summer off with a newborn isn’t a bad one. * * * This is a now page. If it’s old, hassle me on social media.

The Daily publishes several special issues every year, including a New Student Orientation issue, a Big Game issue and a Commencement issue. ### The Corporation The Stanford Daily newspaper is the primary holding of The Stanford Daily Publishing Corporation. Founded in 1973, The Stanford Daily Publishing Corporation operates as a California non-profit corporation headed by the paper’s editor-in-chief and business manager. ### History of The Daily The Stanford Daily is the independent, student-run newspaper of Stanford University. The Daily was originally founded as a small pamphlet known as The Daily Palo Alto in 1892 and has been a campus fixture ever since. The Daily strives to serve the Stanford community with relevant, unbiased journalism and provides its editorial, tech and business staffs with unparalleled educational opportunities. The Daily became independent of Stanford University in 1973 after a years-long clash with the administration spurred in part by disagreements over The Daily’s coverage of anti-Vietnam War protests. In particular, a strongly worded 1970 op-ed in the newspaper entitled “Snitches and Oppression,” penned by Diarmuid McGuire M.A. ’73, drew concerns from University administrators that the school might be held liable for any violence incited by the article. Independence for The Daily was thus a logical conclusion for both sides: The Daily’s disentanglement from the University would make it impossible for the University to attempt to influence reporting through financial withholding or other means, and the University’s disentanglement from The Daily would release it of any potential liability for content published in the newspaper. Thus, in 1973, The Stanford Daily Publishing Corporation was incorporated in Santa Clara County as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Independence wasn’t the only consequence of The Daily’s coverage of campus antiwar protests; the publication also drew national attention when it sued James Zurcher, the chief of the Palo Alto Police Department, following a surprise search of The Daily’s offices for photographic evidence of protestors that the student-journalists and legal counsel deemed to be in violation of the First and Fourth Amendments. After a district court and court of appeals ruled in favor of The Daily, the case, _Zurcher v. Stanford Daily_, was brought to the Supreme Court of the United States in 1978, with the nation’s highest court ruling 5-3 in favor of Zurcher. The ensuing outcry among journalists and the public led to Congress’s passage of the Privacy Protection Act of 1980, which established the requirement of a subpoena to search newsrooms for unpublished materials. With the launch of its website in 1995, The Daily became one of the first college newspapers publishing on the Internet. The site is live and continuously updated throughout the year. It features content from the print edition, along with special Web-only content often including live blogs of sporting events and major campus events. The Daily moved out of its old offices in the Storke Publications Building to its new home at the Lorry I. Lokey Stanford Daily Building in 2007, thanks to the generosity of Lorry I. Lokey ’49 and hundreds of other benefactors, which would not have been possible without the titanic effort of Arthur Charles Hoffman ’73 MBA ’76.
